Start with street art in La Ranilla
The old streets west of Plaza del Charco bring together several kinds of outdoor art. Large walls, painted houses and smaller interventions have different stories, and the work can change over time. Follow the wall murals guided walk
The large Puerto Street Art murals give La Ranilla an open-air collection across several streets. Artists have worked on building sides rather than in one enclosed place, so the route also introduces the neighbourhood. The programme began in 2014 and grew through later phases. Notice the Apodos painted houses
The little paintings on some La Ranilla homes tell a more local story. Five concrete faces called Somos lo mismo appear in different parts of Puerto de la Cruz. Julio Nieto's work was part of the 2020 MUECA urban-art programme and invites a look at what people share across cultures. Watch a changing street art hotspot
The Street Art Hotspot Update from October 2025 shows another side of Puerto's outdoor art away from the usual old-town walk. Its video is a dated snapshot, because work there can be replaced or added. Watch it for the art and its changing setting, without using it as a current map or inventory.
Art inside Casa de la Aduana
Near the harbour, Casa de la Aduana is home to the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Eduardo Westerdahl (MACEW). The museum has a collection of twentieth-century art, including work by artists connected to the Canary Islands, and the building also hosts exhibitions. It offers an indoor art visit that feels quite different from following the murals outside. Check what is showing and the venue's opening arrangements for the day of your visit; temporary exhibitions and access can change.
Exhibitions at Castillo San Felipe
On the western side of town, the former coastal fort is now El Castillo Espacio Cultural. Its exhibition room and cultural programme bring art into a historic setting near Playa JardÃn. Exhibitions are temporary, so do not assume that a show featured in an older article is still open. If you are passing the castle, look for the current programme before planning an indoor visit.
