About Puerto de la Cruz Carnival
The International Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz is one of the town’s largest annual celebrations, combining elaborate galas, costumes, music, street events, parades and long-established local traditions.
The celebrations develop over several weeks, beginning with the main gala programme before moving increasingly into the streets of Puerto de la Cruz. Major events traditionally include the children’s and adult galas, the Burial of the Sardine, street Carnival, Mascarita Ponte Tacón and the Gran Coso Apoteósico.
Puerto de la Cruz also gives its Carnival a particularly international character. Alongside local carnival groups and participants, previous editions have included international delegations and strong links with the town’s long-standing German community.

Under the Sea: Puerto de la Cruz Carnival 2027 Theme
The theme of the Puerto de la Cruz International Carnival 2027 is “Bajo el Mar” – Under the Sea, giving the next edition a visual identity inspired by the ocean, marine life and the town’s close relationship with the Atlantic.
The official 2027 Carnival poster was unveiled during the Carnival de Verano gala in September 2026. Created by artist Juliana Serrano, the work is titled “¿Dónde están las llaves, matarile, lire, lire? Puerto de la Cruz, un tesoro bajo el mar”.
The design connects Puerto de la Cruz with the underwater world and Carnival imagery, presenting the town as a treasure beneath the sea. The poster now provides the main visual identity for the 2027 celebrations while the detailed programme continues to develop.
Where Does Puerto de la Cruz Carnival Take Place?
Puerto de la Cruz Carnival is not confined to a single venue. The celebration spreads across different parts of the town, with galas, street events, parades and other activities using different spaces during the Carnival period.
The detailed 2027 venues and parade routes have not yet been published. The Ayuntamiento’s dedicated Carnival page is still displaying the complete 2026 programme, so we will not carry those locations forward and present them as confirmed for 2027.
Once the official 2027 programme is released, this section will be updated with the confirmed gala venues, street-event locations and routes for major events such as the Gran Coso Apoteósico and Mascarita Ponte Tacón.

Visitor Information for Carnival 2027
If you are planning a trip specifically for Carnival, the published key dates provide a useful starting point, but it is still too early to plan around exact times and venues. The full municipal programme is still awaited.
Some of the major Carnival events take place in the streets and are designed around public participation, while galas and other organised activities may have different admission or capacity arrangements. We will add confirmed ticket and booking information for 2027 when it is published.
The busiest period is likely to be around the principal street events in February, particularly Mascarita Ponte Tacón on 12 February and the Gran Coso Apoteósico on 13 February. If these events are important to your visit, it is sensible to plan accommodation well ahead while waiting for the final programme.
Do not rely on the detailed 2026 timetable for 2027. Times, venues, routes and supporting events can change from one edition to the next.
Local Tips for Puerto de la Cruz Carnival 2027
Puerto de la Cruz Carnival is spread across different parts of the town, so the most useful advice is to check the confirmed venue and route for the event you want to attend once the full 2027 programme is published.
If Carnival is one of the main reasons for your trip, booking accommodation well ahead is sensible for the busiest February dates. Staying centrally can also make it easier to reach street events on foot and avoid having to move the car during the most crowded periods.
For the major public events, especially Mascarita Ponte Tacón and the Gran Coso Apoteósico, allow extra time to reach the area and expect the town centre to be much busier than usual.
