Thoroughly enjoyed a meal in one of the Compostelana Restuarants. This chain has five restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz and one in Santa Cruz.
Two of their restaurants are dotted around the edge of the Plaza del Charco. The restaurant in the centre of the square itself is also part of their group.
We ate in restaurant that is called La Plaza and it is the white coloured one located underneath the Chinese restaurant on the corner opposite the Hotel Tropical.
As with all of their restaurants, the service is always extremely efficient although not always overly friendly!
The restaurant has an inside seating area – although I have yet to see anyone sat inside. Most people prefer the outside terrace, which is on two levels!
The menu is pretty extensive and covers everything from tapas, to pasta, fish and meat dishes, and paella. There is also a good selection of desserts too!
I had the salmon with avocado and vegetables – which was very well presented. I had to order some potatoes separately as the meal only came with the vegetables. The salmon was a lovely, a nice thick piece and the selection of vegetables was great. My partner was not very hungry so he opted for the onion soup with some garlic bread. The soup came out very hot and was really tasty.
In addition to the lovely surroundings and the efficient staff, there is a live singer at 9pm, with the opportunity to get to up and have a dance, which helps to make this a popular restaurant.
Residents can currently get a 20% discount on their bill, but you do have to ask for it.
