This little restaurant is a fairly new addition to Punta Brava and as the name suggests it serves an extensive range of pizzas as well as pasta dishes including macaroni, spaghetti, tagliatelle and fettucine with a great selection of sauces – including carbonara and bolognesa.
We arrived at around 7.30 on a Friday evening without a reservation and we were seated immediately as there was no one else in the restaurant. However to be fair, it was pouring down with rain and nobody wanted to venture out. As our meal progressed though a few more people did wander it and quite a few came in for take outs.
The wine list wasn’t great and bizarrely for an Italian restaurant they had no Italian white wine! Anyhow we had a bottle of Verdejo and it wasn’t bad.
My partner has the rather bizarre sausage and chip pizza. The base was homemade in the restaurant and wasn’t at all doughy. It came exactly as the menu suggested a pizza base, topped with a tomato sauce, sausage and chips. It was – as is always the case – too much for him to eat but her enjoyed what he had.
I had the lasagna which came piping hot and was a good size portion. I wouldn’t say it was the best I had ever had but it was definitely not the worst – with plenty of meat and sauce.
The restaurant itself was clean and well decorated. The only negative I would say is that there front of house man (José) could extend a warmer welcome to new clients. He wasn’t the most attentive and made it seems as though it was a chore to serve us!
As it is local to us, I think we would go back, the food was good, the price was very reasonable (34,50 euros for pizza, lasagna and a bottle of wine) and you never know, after a few visits maybe José will begin to warm to us!!!
