A first visit for us to the Krombacher Inn in La Paz, which seems to be a popular choice for locals and tourists, so we were expecting great things!
When we arrived, it was completely full on the outside terrace, so we took a table inside, which was not a problem for us. It was all very clean and nicely laid out. The service was super friendly and very efficient – in fact probably too efficient as we had barely had time to take a sip of our wine when the food arrived.
The chef here produces an amazing amount of food from such a tiny kitchen tucked in the corner! Incredible!
Our feeling was that the menu was geared more towards our German friends, however, there was certainly something a few things on the menu that took our fancy.
I opted for bread pork fillet, salad and sauteed potatoes and paid extra for some mushroom on the side which they very kindly supplied. The food was great, especially the potatoes. The only comment I would have is that the plates could do with being bigger!
My partner fancied a fillet steak with pepper sauce, also with sauteed potatoes and salad. He asked for it medium well done but it came rare. They were very kind and attentive when we asked to change it – but it came back still medium rare! By this time, because I was halfway through my food he decided not to send it back again, otherwise by the time it had come back, I probably would have finished and we would have both ended up eating our meals on our own. He was able to eat a fair amount of it but didn’t enjoy it as much as he anticipated.
We won’t be letting this put us off, the staff were very efficient, the food was hot and everyone was very friendly, so we will certainly be giving it another go
For a bottle of wine, and two main courses our meal cost us €37.90
