Dates and overview

The main Fiestas Patronales programme in Puerto de la Cruz runs from 30 April to 3 May 2026, with the wider exhibition of crosses running from 29 April to 3 May. The programme combines civic, cultural and religious events, with the strongest public focus building towards the main Day of the Cross celebrations on 3 May.

The 2026 programme includes school and neighbourhood cross exhibitions, artistic crosses around the town, a historical conference, the pregón, concerts, a guided route, family activities and the central Eucharist and procession in honour of the Santa Cruz.

29 April to 3 May: cross exhibition period

From Wednesday 29 April to Sunday 3 May, Puerto de la Cruz hosts an exhibition of crosses created by nursery schools, CEIP schools, IES schools and the Centro de Mayores de Puerto de la Cruz.

Location: Exteriores del Ayuntamiento de Puerto de la Cruz

This gives the fiestas a visible town-centre presence before the main public acts begin. It is also one of the easiest parts of the programme to see casually if you are already in Puerto de la Cruz during those dates.

Thursday 30 April 2026

The official programme begins with a historical conference linked to the Fiestas de la Cruz.

• Location: Salón de Plenos, Ayuntamiento de Puerto de la Cruz

This is the most culture-led event in the programme and helps set the historical context for the rest of the fiestas.

Friday 1 May 2026

Friday brings the first full public day of celebrations, with exhibitions, the pregón and a night concert.

• 12:00 to 12:15 — Exposición de la Cruz de los trabajadores municipales, Jardines del antiguo Convento de Santo Domingo
• All day / open viewing — VI edición de las Cruces Artísticas realizadas por empresas, colectivos y diseñadores, at the rotonda de Punta Brava, entrada del Botánico, rotonda de San Antonio, Horno de Cal en San Felipe - El Tejar and rotonda de La Vera
• 20:00 — Pregón de las Fiestas Patronales Puerto de la Cruz 2026, delivered by Sra. Dña. Leonor F. González Álamo, Plaza Concejil
• 21:00 — Concierto extraordinario by Los Herederos del Atlántico, directed musically by David Duque, Plaza Concejil

Friday is a good day if you want a mix of tradition and evening atmosphere without waiting for the main religious acts on Sunday.

Saturday 2 May 2026

Saturday mixes folklore, family programming, a guided route through the town’s crosses and a major evening concert.

• 12:00 — Concierto Folclórico by Agrupación Folclórica Los Doniz and the Portuguese group Rancho Folclórico da Casa do Povo de Arouca, Plaza Concejil
• 18:00 — Ruta La Cruz en el Puerto, a guided route through the crosses of Puerto to understand their history and background, with prior online registration
• 16:00 to 18:00 — Talleres y juegos tradicionales, plus the children’s show Sonrisas Canarias and then Verbena Kids, Zona de la Aduana
• 20:00 — Concierto extraordinario patronal by Olga Cerpa & Mestisay, Plaza Concejil

For many visitors, Saturday is the best all-round public day before the more formal Day of the Cross celebrations on Sunday.

Sunday 3 May 2026

Sunday is the main Day of the Cross in Puerto de la Cruz and the strongest day for anyone wanting the central religious celebration and procession.

• 09:00 — Eucaristía en honor a la Santa Cruz, Capilla Cruz de Las Lonjas
• 11:00 — Solemne Eucaristía y Procesión en honor a la Santa Cruz, Patrona de Puerto de la Cruz, Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia
• 13:30 — Traditional concert by the Banda Música Municipal, Plaza Concejil
• 18:00 — Concert by the Orquesta Filarmónica Juvenil de Tenerife, performing Encanto en Puerto de la Cruz, Plaza Concejil

The Sunday programme is the emotional centre of the fiestas and the most important day if you want to experience the tradition at its most visible in the town centre.

Santa Cruz procession route

The 3 May procession route in honour of the Santa Cruz begins after the solemn Eucharist and passes through:

calle Quintana, calle Santo Domingo, calle La Marina, Muelle Pesquero, Plaza del Charco, calle Blanco, calle Iriarte, calle San Juan and calle Quintana.

During the route, the programme notes the traditional quema de fuegos y tracas and the lectura institucional. At the end of the procession, the programme states that the signing of the Libro de Priostes and the appointment of the Prioste for 2027 will take place in the sacristy.
