EL PESCADOR restaurant is located just off the Plaza del Charco, up a little hill in Calle Puerto Viejo.
It is one in the gradually expanding Padrino Group of restaurants – the others being El Padrino (located more or less in the parallel street to El Pescador), El Padrino San Amora in La Paz and on the sea front opposite the Lido – the Restaurant La Taberna del Lago
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
As we had chosen to eat at that time between lunch and dinner, the restaurant was not very busy (but did start to fill up as we were finishing our meal). We sat on the outside terrace which just caught the sun as it was starting to go down.
THE RESTAURANT
As would be expected from the name of the street that the building is located, Calle Puerto Viejo – the building is old and covers a huge area constructed in the style of a typical old Canarian house with an internal courtyard. There are many little dining areas inside and large rooms suitable for parties and weddings. What is particularly interesting are the many old photos of Puerto de la Cruz which are displayed around the walls of these rooms – definitely worth taking a little wander to have a look whilst waiting for your food to arrive.
THE SERVICE
We were served by 3 different servers, all very attentive, very efficient and super friendly.
THE FOOD
I had lovely fresh warm bread roll with some butter to start with and as I am generally a fish eater I opted for the salmon in roquefort sauce served with boiled potatoes and vegetables. The other half had pork medallions with chips and that was also served with vegetables. For an additional fee, he had a pepper sauce to accompany his pork.
The food was excellent. We both thoroughly enjoyed it, ate all of it and have decided we will be returning.
With a bottle of wine, and our two main courses (and my warm bread roll) our bill was a very fair and reasonable €57.
