If you fancy some tapas then you really need to visit Ambasada Tapas&Beer, located alongside the roundabout near to the Las Vegas Hotel right opposite the yellow Loro Parque train stop.
We decided to sit inside and upstairs so that we could enjoy a view down the walkway towards the Martianez area.
The welcome from Adrian was super friendly, and he spent some time going through the menu with us and explaining what was on offer! They cater for everyone – vegetarians, carnitarians, and glucose or gluten free!
We decided to have the mixed tapas platter which consists of 7 different tapas. Adrian explained that these do change daily due to the availability of ingredients , so the choices we had when we were there may vary to the ones on offer when you visit.
All the wines served are local wines from local bodegas including Bodega 35 or wines from Lanzarote.
Our tapas were prepared by chef Jonathan, and his offerings for us were:
1) Warm potato tortilla
2) Papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes)
3) Peppers padron
4) Croquettas (2 fish and 2 chicken)
5) Chickpeas with chorizo (my favourite – exceptionally tasty)
6) Squid in breadcrumbs (this made a change from squid in batter and it was also not chewy or rubbery! My 2nd favourite!)
7) Octopus vinaigrette (again the octopus was not chewy!)
All served with fresh bread and a selection of 3 sauces – ali oli, green mojo and spicy red mojo.
The food was served hot and came after a brief period during which we were able to enjoy a glass of local white wine!
We didn’t have a dessert although they did look very tempting, but we were full of the tapas which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Not only was it great value at just 26,90 euros for 2 people sharing, but the service was also efficient, friendly and welcoming. The décor in the bar was also very attractive and the bathrooms were immaculately clean.
It’s always great also be able to see an open kitchen and be able to watch how your food is being handled and prepared, by the chef!
Thoroughly recommend this place, we shall be returning.
