Cafetería Mazaroco Review

In my best Max Bygraves voice 'I wanna tell you a story'

On our first visit to Puerto we flew in on the 31st December 2009. We were supposed to land at 6pm. Unfortunately we were FOUR HOURS late and didn't land till nearly 10pm. Luckily the car hire guy was still waiting for us and we were soon on our way up north. I'd printed off the directions (this was pre sat navs!) and I'd found out there was street parking right by our hotel, Hotel Marte.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, there were no spaces so we just followed the road down, and around, and eventually found a space by, what we now know, is the Catholic cemetery. We had NO IDEA where we were. Luckily there was a passing local who, instead of just giving us directions, took us right to our hotel. Amazing
By this time it was quarter to midnight and we were starving so we threw our bags into the room and set off to find somewhere we could eat.

That happened to be Cafe Bar Mazaroco and it soon became one of our favourites.

Since then we have holidayed in Puerto countless times and have always made a bee line for it. Whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or grabbing a bite to eat on the way home from a night out.
They are open from 6.30 in the mornings to midnight, seven days a week.
The prices are very reasonable, the staff are attentive and welcome us back like long lost family.
On one first holiday they were selling 1/2 chicken, chips and salad for 4€. Even today, 15 years later, it's only 6.10€
One thing I am rather particular about when I go out to eat, is the cleanliness of the toilets with plenty of toilet paper and, although they are upstairs, they are always clean, with supplies.
Word of warning though. It can get really busy during Spanish football games, especially if CDTenerife are playing.
Enjoy a few photos from our holiday here this time. Prices correct at the time - February 2024
