Restaurante Los Asadores Review

This place, especially at weekend lunch times is usually heaving, with people queuing for a table but as we choose to eat an evening meal at a typically British time of 19.30, we walked straight in to find two or three empty tables inside.

It's located out of town in an area called Las Arenas, along one of the main roads in to Puerto, called Ctra General Puerto Cruz – Arenas, open every day from 12 midday until 11pm at night. A long-established place having first opened it’s door in 1972 – extremely popular with the locals.

The menu itself is basic – chicken, pork or steak – all served with chips!  Some meals do come with salad, but it is really only a garnishing.  If you want a salad, I suggest you order one separately.

We were offered bread and ali oli but declined – mainly because I eat too much of it and then don’t have room for my main course.

The place is basic – paper tablecloths, hard chairs, cutlery just plonked on the table on a plate with serviettes for you to lay out yourself!  But the service is good, efficient and very friendly.

The meats are all cooked over an open fire, which you can see if you walk to the back of the restaurant where the open kitchen is located.

 

I had half a chicken with chips, the other half had a pork chuleton (a large size chop) served with chips and salad.   The food was well cooked and tasted fantastic.   We declined a dessert, but our whole bill with a bottle of wine was 23 euros.

 

Indoor and outdoor seating available although the view outdoors is of the main road.  The place has its own car park too which is a bonus if you happen to drive there.

If you want an authentic local meal then this would be a great place to try.
