Petit Los Angeles Review

This restaurant is located near to the hotel once known at The Turquesa but recently renamed Alua Tenerife, the only restaurant along the little strip there nestled between a supermarket and an excursion shop.  Perhaps not the best setting but don’t let that put you off.

We arrived without a reservation and had to wait a few minutes for a table to be cleared.  The place was full – which is always a good sign!

With a nod towards the traditional Canarian colours for the table settings and curtains, this restaurant serves salads, soups, paella and various meat and fish dishes.

We decided to have the menu of the day at a cost of 15,50 euros (plus 7% IGIC) per person.

Whilst we waited for our starters to arrive, we were served some very hot garlicy crispy pieces of bread to eat with mojo sauces.

I opted for prawns in garlic for a starter which arrived in the expected sizzling manner.  My partner had a mixed salad which was refreshingly different consisting not just of the usual lettuce, tomato and cucumber but also egg, kiwi, papaya and melon!

As a main course, my partner enjoyed a rather large lamb shoulder in a local “gravy” served with potatoes and fresh vegetables.  I have the filet of fish meuniere also served with potatoes and fresh vegetables.  The food was excellent, and the portions were generous.

As part of the menu of the day we also had a dessert and were offered a coffee but declined.  We did partake in the offered “chupito” which really should come with a warning.  It was home made and definitely took your breath away!

Our whole meal including a bottle of wine and a small bottle of water cost just under 50 euros.

We enjoyed our meal here very much, the setting was inviting, the food was excellent and whilst the service was very professional, I think it could be a bit friendlier!
