My review of the Catalonia Las Vegas
Cannot fault this hotel

Entertainment- excellent (we had no idea what was going on but we joined in anyway!)
We had a twin room on the 2nd floor with a balcony and a private balcony with balinese beds. Overlooked the pool with a view of Tiede.
Room had air con, fridge (no kettle) plenty of room although the shower did leak a bit if the curtain wasn't pulled round. Towels included but these ones are not allowed by the pool.
Lifeguard at pool excellent, kept everything clean and fixing things and always had a smile. You cannot reserve sunbeds for longer than 30 mins. This is enforced and your towels will be removed.
You can change your board (if you are half board like we were) to breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner. They will check your room number at lunch.
Bar staff also excellent (table service or you can order through a QR code)
2 mini supermarkets across the road, larger ones within 5 min walk
Plaza del Charco 10 min walk
Can hire mobility scooters and book excursions
Safe and pool towels available for hire
Yes, the entertainment was Spanish based, but get involved!! We had no idea what was happening but got involved anyway
Daughter used the salon, also good
Drink prices very reasonable

Just back from an amazing week. Thank you to this wonderful group for all the advice and recommendations. We stayed at The Catalonia Las Vegas, our second visit, booking a standard room with NO balcony (I won't lie, I was very worried before coming) however our room was amazing, room 520 overlooking the roundabout with views of the sea, the pools and the volcano. Honestly I couldn't fault a thing, yes the hotel is a bit tired in places but the friendly service, beautiful pool and garden areas make up for the age of this hotel. The food is okay, fabulous choice at breakfast and at dinner time, I never starved. The location is bang on, I will certainly return.. Don't be put off by some negative reviews, it's a 3 star hotel with a heart of gold.
