Los Chicos de la Barbacoa Review

We got a very warm welcome from the owner Toby and his team Bjorn, Marvin and Parisa very friendly and very efficient.   They have created a great atmosphere with some nice chill out music playing in the background.

The bar is decorated with a gold and yellow theme which is a great contrast.  All of the team members speak English, German (their native language) and Spanish.

This place has only just recently opened, located opposite the Alua Tenerife Hotel (originally Hotel Turquesa) and on the night we went along, it already seemed to be very popular.

This bunch of guys certainly know how to produce some great barbeque food having gained years of experience at their barbeque finca in Tacoronte, opening a restaurant in the town seemed the next logical step giving everyone access to their amazing food.

You will need to make sure you are very hungry when you visit because the portions are massive – we ended up taking food home with us.

We started with the most amazing burrata made with fresh mozzarella cheese, beautifully presented and very tasty. We also had the pulled pork with sour cream, homemade chilli sauce and onion. The pork was tender, and the chilli sauce was complimented by the sour cream.
Moving on, we had a combination platter. This consisted of a crunchy chicken burger (and it was crunchy, but the chicken was tender), chicken wings with homemade BBQ sauce and sweet and spicy ribs with homemade coleslaw. This was all accompanied with sweet potato fries and a variety of homemade sauces. We loved it all!

For dessert we were spoilt with the grilled pineapple served with maple syrup, ice cream and black volcanic salt which gave it a unique flavour. Being greedy, we also had the grilled banana Baschoki too!

This place has outdoor seating only. Easy access for wheelchair users. Open from Thursday through until Sunday from 5pm until 11pm, with happy hour being between 6pm and 7pm (2 cocktails for 7.90 euros!)

We really would recommend you go along and try this place especially if you love a good barbeque, they really do know what they are doing! One word of advice though - make sure you go along with a big appetite; the portions are really generous!

Also remember to mention puertodelacruz.info when you are ordering and you will get a free beer or soft drink with your food!

***Update***

We recently revisited Los Chicos de la Barbaco as we had seen inside the Facebook group that they had added some new dishes to the their menu, and we couldn't resist trying them for ourselves and as before, we were not disappointed!

The service continues to be super friendly and very welcoming AND the food continues to impress. We had sweet potato fries with pulled pork together with a (to die for) Wagyu deluxe Burger and a Pulled Pork burger. Everything is freshly prepared, the burgers are delicious BUT you must remember to go with a big appetite, because the portions are large!

To finish off - and because the waffles were so tasty the first time we went along, we just wanted to double check that was still the case and so we had a blueberry, ice cream and salted caramel waffle.

The verdict - still as tasty and highly recommended. They have changed their menu since we were last there, so we have added in the updated one, along with some new photos. You can see more information at their website https://loschicosdelabarbacoa.com/.

It is advisable to book in advance to reserve your table.
