Rajwadi Thali and Fusion Grill Review

We had a fabulous meal here at Rajwadi Thali & Fusion Grill. Both Popat and Bharti – husband and wife team, and new to the island, were super welcoming, very friendly and keen to explain their 2 different concepts - Homemade Indian Thali AND Fusion Grill.
We tried a bit of both, and they were both fantastic!

All the food is homemade style with no curry powder or premade sauces. The 2 different concepts came about because Popet and Bharti had a family member who couldn’t eat anything too spicey, so the idea of the Fusion Grill was born to meet their tastebuds. The meat is slow cooked on a charcoal grill and complimented with various different Indian sauces – so in effect you can enjoy a taste of BBQ with Indian tasting sauces. There is a choice of meats and fish- entrecot, aged ribeye steak, french rack Lamb, barbecued Tuna, pork ribs vindaloo, cauliflower steak and chicken fillet.
We had the Homemade Indian Thali platter between the two of us – which was beautifully presented. From the fusion menu we had fillet of chicken with Tamarind sauce and Mango Chutney.
The platter does change each time and in accordance with what has been freshly cooked, but for our visit, the platter consisted of a starter of rice poppadoms with carom seeds served with pickles and chutneys.

To follow that we had the famous Indian street food called " Pani Poori”.  This is mashed potatoes mixed with chickpeas and Indian Masala (not spicy), coriander and peanut, served with two sauces - mint sauce and date with tamarind sauce.   This was a new experience for me and one I would come back for!

Our main Thali platter come with samosa, beetroot and sweet potato Tikki and three different currys -  canarian goat,  chicken curry and Dal, served with naan bread and rice. Rayta and mango lasi to cool you down if you feel spicy.

For dessert we enjoyed steam yogurt with Rose syrup and crushed pistachio with gulab jamun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend trying this restaurant if you are looking for something different to the usual Indian Curry.  The staff are friendly, the produce - as far as possible – is all locally sourced too.

There are lots of options for vegan and vegetarian as well, which can be found on their VIP menu (Veggie Important Person).

Indoor and outdoor seating available.  Easily accessible for wheelchair users too.

They are open from Monday to Saturday from 13:00 until 16:00  and again from 18:00 to 23:00 and Sunday from 13:00 to 23:00.
