Located in La Paz, close to the viewing point over Puerto de la Cruz, this restaurant is another in the Grupo El Padriño, which includes the original Restaurant El Padriño in the old part of town, El Pescador just off Plaza del Charco and of course, on the sea front La Taberna del Lago. We like this group of restaurants because the service is always very good and the food is always of good quality.
El Padriño San Amaro offers a couple of options for you to choose from with regards to seating areas. They have the front terrace, which is popular, but also have indoor seating (which is what we opted for) but out the back they also have their open garden terrace area too.
I choose something that I had not had before from the menu and this was the fillets “El Padrino” which was three fillets of meat, served with vegetables and sauté potatoes. It should have ben served with bearnaise sauce but they very kindly changed that to a pepper sauce for me. The whole meal came in a piping hot earthenware pot (with the sauce on the side) and I just served myself from the pot!
My partner had the fillet of salmon in bearnaise sauce which came with mixed vegetables and boiled potatoes, one of her favourites this restaurant.
As usual the food came piping hot and the portion sizes were very generous.
One of the things we most like about this restaurant is that there are a lot of dishes that are available that come with a good size portion of fresh vegetables. So often we haves a meal in other restaurants which come with just a garnish or a small token couple of pieces of vegetable.
We finished our meal off with a delicious chocolate sponge filled with hot chocolate sauce served with ice cream. Two spoons and one dessert as we really were quite full but just could not resist!
Our meal with two main courses, one dessert and a bottle of wine costs us €61:31
