We have been meaning to try this restaurant for a little while. Located just on the edge of the Plaza del Charco in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, it always seems to be very busy and popular with both tourists and locals.
We did have to wait for a seat for about 10 minutes but considering it was Friday night we didn’t think the wait was too long.
However, we did have to wait a further 15 minutes or so before someone came to take our drink orders and that was only after we asked twice to order!
For our starters we shared pimiento de padron and a Russian salad which came with a few crisp breads (not enough for the size of the portion of the salad!) The portions were quite large so we did not finish it all. The peppers were very nice although the salad was a bit lacking in any flavour.
We both had filet steak for our main course which came with some lovely, freshly fried potato cubes. The steak was divine – probably one of the tastiest we have had – very tender and cooked just right.
For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse, which was a bit runny.
What we did not like was that it was so busy! There weren’t enough serving staff for the number of tables, so the service was slow – although to be fair, they were very friendly! And because there were so many people waiting for a table, they were hanging around almost looking over you as you ate making you feel like you had to eat as quickly as possible to free up the table. We likened it to eating a steak meal in a school dinner setting.
The steak however was very good, so if you are looking for a decent steak, we would recommend this place.
Many thanks to Simon Jerrison, a member of our Facebook Group, for his review of Longo Steak House.
