Jazz en el Mercado Puerto de la Cruz 2026
Four free evenings of live jazz are coming to the Mercado Municipal in Puerto de la Cruz from 25 September to 16 October 2026.
Jazz en el Mercado celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Municipal Market with four concerts featuring musicians from the Canary Islands jazz scene, accompanied by food and drink from the market's own establishments.
Each concert runs from 19:00 to 21:00, with music and atmosphere in the market from 18:00 and the food and drink establishments remaining open until 23:00.
All four concerts are free to attend.

Friday 25 September – Idafe Pérez & Gino Marcelli Quartet
The Jazz en el Mercado series opens on Friday 25 September with Idafe Pérez & Gino Marcelli Quartet.
The group is co-led by La Palma trumpeter Idafe Pérez and Italian pianist Gino Marcelli, bringing together two musicians connected with the Canary Islands jazz scene.

Saturday 3 October – Ancor Miranda Trío
Ancor Miranda Trío performs on Saturday 3 October.
The project is led by Puerto de la Cruz drummer Ancor Miranda and uses a trio format of saxophone, double bass and drums.
The music places particular emphasis on improvisation and the interaction between the three musicians.

Friday 9 October – La Cofradía
On Friday 9 October, the stage belongs to Gran Canaria group La Cofradía.
The collective brings together Luis Sánchez Guerra, Kervin Barreto, Nelson Saavedra and Juan Pérez Pérez.
Their music combines contemporary jazz with Latin and Caribbean rhythms, funk and elements of Canarian folklore, making this one of the most stylistically varied nights of the series.

Friday 16 October – Alex Janssen Trío
The final Jazz en el Mercado concert takes place on Friday 16 October with Alex Janssen Trío.
The trio is led by guitarist Alex Janssen, who is originally from Uruguay and is now based in Lanzarote.
The programme centres on original compositions and explores contemporary harmonies, textures and rhythms.

Live jazz, food and drink at the Mercado
Jazz en el Mercado is designed as more than a conventional concert series.
Music and atmosphere begin from 18:00, with the live performances running from 19:00 to 21:00.
The market's food and drink establishments will remain open until 23:00, allowing visitors to combine the concerts with dinner, drinks or something to eat from the businesses inside the Mercado Municipal.
The idea is to bring together live music, local commerce and gastronomy in one of Puerto de la Cruz's everyday meeting places.
Where is Jazz en el Mercado held?
All four concerts take place inside the Mercado Municipal de Puerto de la Cruz.
For the concert series, the market will adapt its normal layout.
The main stage and a seated audience area will be installed on Planta 0.
Visitors on Planta 1 will also be able to watch the concerts from the tables belonging to the market's food and drink establishments, with a direct view towards the performance area.
This arrangement means visitors can either watch from the main concert area or combine the music with food and drink upstairs.
Celebrating 40 years of the Mercado Municipal
Jazz en el Mercado forms part of the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the Mercado Municipal de Puerto de la Cruz.
The market has been part of everyday life in Puerto de la Cruz since 1986, serving both as a commercial space and as a meeting place for generations of local residents.
The 2026 jazz series is intended to bring more cultural and evening activity into the market while supporting its shops, food businesses and role within the town.
The programme is promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Puerto de la Cruz through the Mercado Municipal and is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands' Directorate-General for Commerce.
